06:39 pm: An Open Letter to Ian Hanomansing
Dear Ian Hanomansing

On tonight's news broadcast (jan 8,2007), just before pausing for a commercial break, you stated that you "would be back after a briefest of breaks". I however timed it and came up with two minutes and 15 seconds. That my dear friend is not the briefest of brief breaks.

Sincerely
Alex

10:00 pm: Wow I haven't updated this and frankly don't even have anything intresting to say.
I am taking summer session courses now, and first day was pretty lame.
Let's hope it gets better.

11:38 pm: The Faint
Yay. I got my tickets in the mail today to go see the Faint in November in Vancouver.

I'm looking forward to that quite a lot.

A few days ago I tried making donuts, and it failed so miserably. The dough was too sticky, so I floured it down. I ended up doubling the flour and I forgot to double the sugar! It ended up being deep friend bread with a hint of sugar. I couldn’t even make doughnut shapes, just random chunks of deep friend dough. It was so gross so I brought them to my poli sci class where everyone just laughed at me. The select few who tried some said it was real gross. I eventually found some computer science people who were more than willing to eat it. So there we sat eating deep fried sugar dough.

On that note, we are starting a computer science club. I have no idea what we will do. It will most likely turn into a drinking club. Some people suggested LAN parties, I'll be sure to miss out on those. Maybe we could do a nerd-movie event where we show classics like the toxic avenger 1 and 2, evil dead, and death race 3000.

My car is dying :(
I drove it home today with my check engine light on for half of my 35km drive. It needs a new oxygen sensor. I hope it's cheapish, but I’ve been finding prices ranging from 30-200USD on the interweb. And I don't even know if i'm even half capable of fixing it. How hard could it be.....?

I'm done!

02:18 am: work work worked
Yes i am here, and am very worked.

Let's see, I was working at The H, in nanaimo for a month. Incase it hasn't caugh on, the H is the shortened name of rmh/ncogroup. It'll catch on sooner or later. So I am just like every other nanaimo chump of a loser nerd. Yes i did my time there, but it was real short. Only a month. I missed my stat pay by a day too, since i was too new. So anyways. then I quit when i was told i could make more interweb programming money. So thats what i've been workinged on.

I only ever went camping once. But i found a new rad trail I need to hike. It's the sunshine coast trail that's 150km long. Maybe I could spend winter breakage hiking, or "reading" break. Justin was a loser who had to get into a car crash, so he wasnt in prime shape to go do our annual two guys in the bush hiking treck.

School starts soon. w00t. I am excitied. year three here i come. Maybe i'll learn how to capotalize and spell.

My website still sucks and isnt updated.

08:29 pm: Crazy, i haven't been here for months. So much has happened since I’ve last posted. I spent a great crazy time in Québec. Laval University was pretty funky. Maybe not funky, but i had a great time in Québec city, I explored so much of the city by bike. But i was so happy when the last day came and then i went off to Montréal.

Sadly I only spent two days there. But the pub crawl was great fun, and the next morning was pretty decent too. We hit up Mont Royal Sunday morning. Every summery Sunday they have a giant "tam-tam" djembe drumming session.

Then i got a ride down to Toronto with a friend from Michigan. Toronto was great fun. Although I didn’t get any cool real film styled pictures.

Ummm I’m pretty lazy and don't feel like saying much more. I got lazy while job hunting and took the first pathetic job i could find: msn tech support. I get paid to sit through training for two weeks of slacker activities. Whenever I'm out on the floor everyone tells me to safe myself. I am looking forward to making a lot of hemp bracelets while taking calls though.

Aside from that, I got bored today and tried to take in an old pair of shorts that are way too big for me now. 6inches too big I reckon. The first thing I should point out is: I don't sew. I haven't sewed since I was 12. Anyways something happened and I ended up making myself a skirt. I wanted a kilt, but it turned out to be a skirt.

pictures anybody? )

That's about it.

12:51 am: le québec
Well well well. I didnt think i would be updating this while im here. but Im bored, and cant sleep, and taking a break from the scene tonight.

for those who dont know, Im in quebec city right now, at laval university working on le french. Its pretty fun here, but im missing BC a bit.

I never thought i would be much of a clubber, But i went to a 3story club, and it was actually fun. Of course had i been sober it would havent have been nearly as much fun. But that was a week ago.

I also went to an Air guitar contest. Holy fuck was that cool. There were actually some pretty good people. But still come on, how many of you have been to an air guitar contest?

what else...Last night we had a togafest on our rez floor. It started off as a big sausagefest. 10guys in togas, no girls. But like ceaser said "wear a toga, and they will come". After some time, we had about 50random people allover the place, and there were tiki torches out on the little balcony too. then of course a rez advisor came and told us not to get too drunk, I though she was going to take the tikis but nope! its so laid back here. Whenever we are outside, and most of the time there was some pot at hand, whenever she came by to tell us to shut up she allways said "yum that smells good" in french of course.

I might aswell talk about how I got out here to quebec...I took the greyhound bus all the way from vancouver. It took 3days (and night) and By the time I hit Ottawa I got off there and visited some friends. I stayed there and had a great time for the weekend, then afterwards I jumped on a bus to montreal, then sherbrooke, then a week after to quebec city.

Ive taken tons of pictures, over 300 I reckon. They are up on my website, but i havent had time to crop, resize and that so you wont be seeing them till once i gets back. And thats going to be in a month from now I bet.

Laters!

The only problem is i really like the first one, and want to keep it.
Oh well, what is a boy to do?

These were all painted while listening to mr bungle. I am sick of it now.

12:04 am: sushi is your friend. i want mine back
Well I am still infact alive! Believe it or not.

It’s been a busy week, month….whenever was the last time I posted things. I wrote my last exam today. Woot.

A couple weeks ago I went snowboarding for the weekend at mt Washington. I had a lot of fun there, I tried to teach some beginner snowboarding friends a few tricks, but nobody was listening. Blah blah, don’t listen to this….

This weekend I am going to Victoria to go see some music, and a photo exebition. It’s going to be rad, me hopes. It’s all part of cbc3’s connect the dots venue. If anyone isn’t familiar with cbc3, check it out, it’s an amazing ezine.

My ezine isn’t amazing. It only ever had one issue. Hopefully I can change it, we have some content, just nobody to cut and paste it together. Sure I can, but im one lazy mofo. Add it up.

Other stuff…I’m going to Quebec city in a week from now. I’m off to be a trendy Anglo fag in tightpants, as I work on my bonjours. It’s a French language summer program at university laval, and best of all, it’s free AND counts for credits. WooT!

Ill be traveling from Vancouver to montreal, and then back, all by BUS! It’s going to be a long 72hours, but think of all that photography. That’s what I am looking forward to.

Everyone is going to see the pixies tomorrow. I get to stay home and show some guy where I found ants, and then he sprays poison on them.

This is one choppy entry.

Oh and im getting my haircut in a city park downtown on a bench somewhere.

11:49 pm: I’m a loser

But on to other facts. I just finished my math project, Im glade too! It ended up being 8pages long on duffing’s equation. Wow I am a geek

I was flipping through the American TV channels, and I cough an ad for “bush for pres” sort of thing. All he had to say was well nothing. All it was was an ad bashing the other guy for encouraging people to stop driving everywhere

Bush made it sound like if this guy wins, everyone will be paying $600 more worth of gas in a year. Why not? If only people would park their SUVs and walk to the mall instead. Fuckers.

Well school’s almost over. Or at least classes. Then ill be able to do some serious slacking, and maybe camping too. Friday I have a job interview, so I hope I can swing it. Gooo ME!

Today I saw a guy in an “All your base are belong to us” tshirt. It made me kindof giddy.

06:41 pm: Fun
I had fun playing golf in my backyard with rusty old stick-club things. Wow i haven't updated this in a long time. But im happy.

11:42 pm: So i watched a bit of the grammies, as i'm sure a bunch did. I was disapointed when james brown didn't win the grammy for best husband.

But once i found this picture of a guy doing vertical unicycling, i was alright. http://www.cs.mu.oz.au/~lee/images/uniabs.jpg

Midterms all next week.
Boy oh boy is this weak.

I went to a plant/seed swap this past saturday and got a wasabi plant. How freaking cool is that? I'll be growing my own possibly organic wasabi! I got a bunch of tomato seeds too. Including one that is said to grow 15ft tall. That's a lot of tomatoes.

11:34 am: Browsing the daily Slashdot news, I read something about kazaa sueing record and movie industries. (usually its the other way around). Under the comments I found this, a purely nerd joke.

Q: Does anyone have any idea what part of Sherman's IP was redistributed?
A: I think it was the 192.168 part.

Anyways last night was a boring lets go drinking at some Nanaimo bar evening. Why do they charge covers for places that have no entertainment whatsoever? LAME. Although I have determined that going out in Parksville is easier, since theres only one bar so you dont have to decide which one to visit. Then some nachos at mgm followed. And then the best part: We collected random buckets for my garden.

January 21st, 2004

11:21 am: Nothing exciting has happened in January. Nothing at all. I bough a book on Mr le Captain Shackleton. He led a couple expeditions to antartica; although he never succeeded to reach the pole. Instead on his last journey his ship got cough in ice and could not advance. The ship was lost. He and his men were stuck on ice, in the middle of nowhere with 3 life boats. Long story short, they made it off the ice, to an island, to an other island, up over some mountains, then picked up his scattered men on the previous islands, and managed to save his entire crew. This happened in 1918, and lasted some 18months; or somewhere along those lines.

Theres a couple movies on it too. The documentary is much better than the drama version.

So last weekend I went out to the fraser valley to visit my grandpa. It was a bit of a boring weekend, but I survived with playing lots of Buldurs Gate. What an amazing game that can run on a slow computer.

Ive been trying hard not to slack off with school. I might be in over my head with far too man math electives. Why do I do this to myself?

Adios.

09:39 pm: Well shit.

I am so punk rock, i broke my guitar.

New years was somewhere between ok and fun. I went to a free concert that was thrown on TV as a live countdown. The music they had was pretty good. But the lamest thing ever was they got the crowd to reherse counting down for new years. Didn't we learn how to count and be loud in elementary school?

I really wanted to get my website up and going by new years, but i have failed to get enough content together. Nobody really wants a website that has no content? Do they? Like there's much content here either.

Hopefuly it will be up before im back at school, if not, then it will take a very long time. Speaking of school, i want to get back into my classes, hopefuly tution and books wont rob me of my new acoustic guitar fund.

I posted some Pictures in this gardening community.

07:12 pm: Yay Christmas shopping is done. I spent too much, oh well. I heard something about giving versus receiving. I was good about it though, in and out. I was almost too fast.

This is going to go in a from present to past, some sort of descending chronological order.

Prior to the shopping I went indoor climbing, and blistered my hands, since it was the first time in over two years. But I had so much fun even though I suck.

Last Friday I turned 20. Yikes I feel old but dont really realize Im older than 19. Theres no special privilege with being 20. Maybe 21 and being legal in the states is the next big thing to look forward to. Then its retiring and old age pension at 65? Or something like that.

I got a wicked waterproof gortex coat last Saturday. Its amazing and so light, and green.

My hands hurt. Typing hurt. But my heart is fine. Emo power.

11:14 pm: Well its been a week since my last one. Exams are taking up too much time, but oddly enough I have hardly been studying.

2 down, 4 more to go. Yippy.

Tonight I stayed home and made my mom watch red dwarf with me. Oddly enough it was a lot of fun.

Other stuffIm applying for a summer language bursary which basically sends me off to Quebec at a very low fee. There I will be submerged in a five week long learning (improving) French course. I applied to go to Quebec city as my number one choice. I have a bunch of family and a cousin my age, which would be wicked if it works out. Im sorry but Quebec parties are just so much more fun than BC parties. They seem to be bigger, yet they feel small and cozy. And I seemed so much more loved because I had bad French and a funny English accent.

Maybe if it works out Ill be able to go play in Montreal, then hitchhike home to good old BC. I kindof want to see a bit of the states but I would be afraid to hitch hike in a country that promotes hand guns and self defense.

I planted a geocache in a nearby wildlife-estuary. Its an amazing math puzzle. I hid three film containers that indicate the distance the final cache is from it. From that you need a whole lot of math. Well actually just cosine law and some mapping skills. I cant wait till someone finds it.

06:51 pm: a cold kept rag
The week is over. Hooray.

I started it off, Monday morning when I locked my keys in my car. Fuck. I live half an hour away from my house, where I keep my spare key. I ran around trying to find someone who could either: break into my car without breaking it, or who could drive me home. I found the later. I bribed someone to drive me home, and back. What a waste of an hour, and $10.

The next two days were spent finishing a computer science programming assignment. Ten or more hours later I had a mostly functioning graph program. You know they type, the ones that find the shortest distance from point A to F, by going through points B and D.

Today was such a waste of a day. I somehow managed to get to school half an hour early. So thats 8:00. But I did get a wicked cool parking spot. Only four of us showed up to our first class. An hour later its over, and now 9:30, if only 2:30 would come sooner. It was the longest 5 hours. Seriously it was. Then my last class sucked, and I skipped the class after that. If it werent for giving Mya and Adam a ride home, I wouldnt have gone. Ug

But I did see Lauren, and she was pretty hot, and had just gotten some tragic broken heart tattoo on her wrist.

Now Im home, only to discover my piece of crap DVD player doesnt work. It wont read any dvds, let alone a CD.

10:12 pm: Don’t cry emo boy.
Im glade today is over. Very glade, so glade Im crying. I did a class presentation today. It was an early presentation at 8:50. I gave a short talk on home routers that perform network address translations. The talk also discussed having either debian or freebsd do nat/ipmasq instead of purchasing a router. We were only given 10mins to talk, but I went over, and had to cut it short. That really sucked.

Later on that day I had a midterm, my last midterm, in linear algebra. Sadly I left one question blank, and my proof couldnt get proofed, so I couldnt use my proof to prove my proof.

Now for the emo.

Why can people not understand that sex isnt the only reason you would talk to them. Sure joking around about handcuffs may give a few hints, but why cant people understand that you are simply trying to find someone interesting to talk to. The last thing I want (now) is some superficial fling. I dont know where I am going with this. Ill stop it now.

Friday is going to be awesome. Am I going out to get wasted? No. Im going to a friendly elegant soiree of potluck chez une amies. And I will expect interesting conversation, and hopefully not too much bullshit philosophy that asks circular infinitely recursive questions.

Another thing: Why do art students complain about basic english class, or art history class as being too difficult, and challenging?

Side notesI am starting to like ani difrancos new album evolve more and more. It tempts me to do some spoken word in a jazzy fashion.
